Superwoman - Day 12

Look! Over by the tree! It’s a skirt! It’s a dress! It’s…an OUTFIT! Well, mostly, anyway.

I was quite proud of myself for coming up with this one, mainly because I came up with a way to make a dress REALLY look like a skirt. Normally, when I wear a dress as a skirt like this, I leave the shirttails untucked and wrap a belt around my waist to create shape. However, I feel like it still looks like I’m wearing a dress as a skirt, though it usually looks pretty cute. But look! I’ve solved the problem!

I tried the trick that I used with the yellow dress a couple of posts ago, only this time I used a wide, elastic belt instead of a scarf. I’m telling you, I felt like a genius. I basically tied the shirttails in a knot, buckled on the belt, and tucked everything into the belt so that it looks like a skirt.

I really liked the combination of neutrals in this outfit – I think black and brown totally go together, as long as one is in the main piece and the other is in the accessories, like what I did here. I could have done a brown belt to match the shoes, but didn’t want to be matchy-matchy or boring. So I chose hot pink instead. Yay!

Kisses!

  1. Cute. I love that you mixed black and brown, something I'm always afraid to do. I may try it out soon :)

  2. Yay! The only time I've found that it doesn't work very well is when you have a brown that's so dark it's almost black. Then the two colors almost blend (but don't), and it's weird. The lighter the brown, the better they go.
